Mums For Moms was started in August 2004. I am a Military Mother of Sgt. Mark E. Morrow Jr. a U.S. Marine. He is stationed at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. I have been delivering bouquet of Mums in the Lancaster, Pa. and surrounding area for eight years. I have delivered to over 156 Military Mothers and 2 Military Fathers as well. I started when my son Mark told me in June of 2004 he was being deployed to the war zone in Iraq. I wanted to reach out to other mothers who also had children serving overseas. I wanted to listen to their stories, what they were going through and how those mothers were handling everything. More importantly I wanted to cheer up the Mothers and myself as well. During the journey of delivering Mums for Moms, I was among the five people from the county who were asked to greet the President Bush and the First Lady at a Campaign stop at the Lancaster Airport, October 27, 2004. The best day of my life!! I have also been awarded the Red Rose in the Lancaster New Era for my many achievements in the community. The Sunday Newspaper did a feature article called "The Spot Light, 2007." It was about my volunteer work! We have sent 519 care packages since Oct. 2007. Our goal is to make sure that our Military know that we support them over seas and state side! I also have been volunteering with the Toys for Tots for the past 2 years and trying to help families that need help in my area. I could never do this work without the help of so many caring people!! So, hats off to everyone who ever donated toward my mission!
Thank You and God Bless you
